President

John Schubert is the co-founder and a senior partner of SynerMed Communications, a leading producer of continuing medical education programs based in New Jersey, from 1984 until retiring in 2004.   John is a former two-term CROW board member serving as president for two years and co-chairing CROW’s capital campaign, and has served or currently serves on the boards of several other island non-profit organizations.  John also serves as a member of the board of directors of the Sanibel-Captiva Trust Company and as an advisor for the Kanzius cancer research project.

Vice president

Annie Skaugstad-Nachtsheim is the owner and manager of Soon Come Contract Hauling, Inc, a member of Sanibel-Captiva Zonta, an active community volunteer and a professionally trained chef. As a CROW volunteer, Annie has transported and cared for animals, organized events and is a member of the executive committee.

Daniel Moore-Thompson owns and operates Suncatchers' Dream Gallery on Sanibel Island.  Daniel previously served as CROW's secretary and member of the executive committee as well as chairing "The Giving Tree Festival" for three years. He has recently rejoined the board and will focus on fundraising and membership.

Treasurer

Susan Petersen-Tucker is the past vice president of finance and operations for the U.S. division of Automotive Components, Ltd., and a busy community volunteer. In addition to participating in CROW committees and projects, she volunteers with Hospice House, Meals on Wheels and the Chihuahua Rescue and Transport Organization. Susan is recently the past president of CROW and is a member of the executive committee.

Directors-At-Large

Wayne Boyd is a retired CEO for Asphalt Drum Mixers, Inc. and is a wildlife advocate who volunteers as a CROWbar helping with projects to construct and maintain CROW’s facilities. Wayne chairs CROW’s building and grounds committee.

Jeff Burns graduated from the University of Florida with a B.S. in Finance with a minor in Economics and went on to earn his Masters Degree in Finance/Real Estate. While in college Jeff was accepted for an internship in Washington D.C. with Senator Connie Mack. Out of college Jeff was hired by and worked for Sanibel Captiva Community Bank in their loan department. Currently, Jeff is a principal in the Burns Family Team, now partnered with Royal Shell Real Estate. He served 3 terms as Treasurer for the Sanibel Captiva Association of Realtors and also has experience as a Board member of PURRE and has served on numerous nonprofit committees. Continuing the island family tradition, Jeff lives on Sanibel with his wife Tiffany and two and a half year old daughter Olivia.

Cathy Eleanor Cola is a native of Chicago and a graduate of Loyola University.  She and husband Paul, own a frame shop, 50% Off Framing, in Fort Myers. Cathy started volunteering for CROW in 2000. Soon after she worked as the administrative assistant to CROW’s operations manager. During her employment, Cathy was responsible for answering first response calls, organizing VERTS for animal pick-ups and rescue, and scheduling volunteers for daily work in the clinic and grounds. Cathy was instrumental in expanding the extern program to include all of veterinary and pre-veterinary colleges in the United States and Europe.


Susan DunnMelissa Congress is involved with her family business, Congress Jewelers, and has lived on Sanibel Island since 1989. The mother of four is a founding member of Sanibel-Captiva Cares, past PTA president at Sanibel School and current Edison State College Foundation board member. Melissa is chairwoman for CROW's annual Taste of the Islands Festival.




Susan DunnPaul Douglass, DVM is a graduate of Michigan State University and retired co-founder of Coral Veterinary Clinic. During his tenure, Dr. Douglass has served as CROW board president, vice president and on several committees including the executive, financial development and hospital advisory.  Dr. Douglass is the past president of the Humane Society and a member of the Caloosa Veterinary Medical Society.

Brian Johnson is a realtor with VIP Realty Group and the owner and publisher of Island Scene, Inc. A lifelong wildlife and conservation advocate, Brian published"Amazing Animal Stories From CROW" and has contributed to the weekly column "Cases of the Week" in the Island Sun newspaper.  

Janet McBee is co-founder and president of Barrier Island Title and an island resident since 1983. Janet was raised in Houston and went to Stephen F. Austin State University. She is a former CROW Board member and an avid CROW supporter. Janet is a member of Sanibel Community Church and serves on the Sanibel Police Pension Board and the Sanibel-Captiva Community Bank Board.  With husband David and their two furry, four-legged children, Janet divides time between two sub-tropic islands, Sanibel and Great Guana Cay, Abaco, Bahamas.

 

 David Nichols, DVMDavid Nichols, DVM is hospital director and veterinarian at Coral Veterinary Clinic, where he has cared for patients for 25 years. The lifelong animal lover and his wife, Jennifer, have five dogs, six cats and one bird. Dr. David is the chair of CROW’s hospital advisory committee.

Geoff RoepstorffGeoffrey Roepstorff is CEO of Bank of the Islands, the oldest locally owned and managed community bank on Sanibel, and founding director and CEO of Edison National Bank, Lee County's oldest locally owned and managed national bank. In addition to serving on CROW committees, Geoffrey is the treasurer of Southwest Florida Addition Services, serves as trustee and treasurer for LCEC and is immediate past president of St. Michael Lutheran Church and School.  

Gail Seldess is the controller of a chain of retail stores (10) and former CFO of several software companies.  She is a former CROW Board member and served as Vice President on the executive committee. Gail has volunteered time in the hospital and currently helps with CROW's educational programs and events.

 

 

 

Regina Toops is currently the marketing director for Phoenix Law. Her background in marketing and communications are a benefit to the CROW Board.  Regina spent ten years as the senior community development director at the March of Dimes.  She was raised in Fort Myers and has a strong relationship with many Lee County business leaders.  Recently she helped with CROW's annual event, Taste of the Islands.



Jeff Weigel is the owner of The Sanibel Deli and has been self employed in the restaurant business for fifteen years.  Jeff has an engineering degree from Clarkson University and a Masters in Business from Indiana University. He has three children, one at Fort Myers High and two at the Sanibel School. Jeff is an active community member and is current president of the Sanibel School Fund (term expires in May).  Jeff spends his free time flying.


 


Jan Jan Egeland, Director Emeritus, is co-founder of the world’s first commercial online service for medical information, has been a Sanibel resident since 1980.  She became a member of the CROW Board of Directors in 1985, and remained for 5 years, serving as its President twice. During her tenure, she was responsible for hiring CROW’s first veterinarian, Dr. Marc Elie.  She has been an active volunteer for many other Island organizations, including SCCF, the Community Foundation, PAWS, FISH, The Schoolhouse Theatre, the Community Foundation, and others.  Jan is currently the volunteer manager of the gift shop at CROW’s visitor education center.
