Each year, CROW hosts a variety of educational events, fundraisers and celebrations that spotlight our animals and our success stories. New happenings are added all the time, so check back often to see what's coming up.

Tue., February 14 - WOW, Wonders of Wildlife

“Armadillos and Raccoons: A Timeline from Injury to Release” presented by CROW volunteers Dot Lee and Kyle Miller. Dot and Kyle will explain the step-by-step process of rescuing, admitting, treating and ultimately releasing two of our common patients back into the wild. Wed., February 15 - Volunteer Training

VERT, Volunteer Emergency Rescue & Transport class is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. This class is mandatory for volunteers interested to learn CROW's protocols for rescue and transporting native wildlife.  You will learn how to identify distressed wild animals, when to intervene, how to rescue and transport to CROW. This class also serves as a refresher for our seasoned volunteers.  Class will be taught by our medical staff.  Please join us in CROW's Healing Winds Visitor Education Center. Scouts and 4-H youth groups are invited to participate in our NEW "FUN PATCH" workshops.  At CROW's Healing Winds Education Center, groups will complete and demonstrate a set of standards in order to be awarded a "Fun Patch".  This two hour workshop begins at 8:30 a.m. at CROW.  For more information and to register your group, please call (239) 472-3644, ext. 227 or email.

Mon., February 20 — Volunteer Training

"Foster Neo-Natal Wildlife" orientation session will be held from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Healing Winds Visitor Education Center. Baby fostering is highly demanding and a huge commitment for our designated volunteers. In part, responsibilities will include keeping the babies at your home and providing patient care as directed by CROW's medical staff.  Training will be provided by CROW's medical staff and is mandatory for all new volunteers and a refresher course for our veterans assigned to the baby room. “CROW’s Aquatic Patients: Fresh Water and Sea Turtles” presented by CROW volunteer Bev Ball. Our sea turtle patients come from the coastal waters between Sarasota and Miami and the many variety of fresh water turtles are found throughout southwest Florida. Mon., April 2 - Appreciation Dinner for CROW's Active Volunteers  

CROW will be hosting it's annual appreciation dinner for their active volunteers on Monday, April 2.  This year's event will be held at The Sanibel Community House beginning at 6:00 p.m.  Double Dare Band will once again be performing and caterers Brad and Ben will be serving a menu of Italian cuisine. Thurs. through Sunday, November 1-4 - Calusa Blueway Paddling Festival

This four-day festival offers hands-on nature and wildlife experiences along with kayaking and canoeing events such as guided trips, demonstrations, on-water instruction, Stand-Up Paddleboard activities, green events, speakers, a film festival and evening socials.

Sun., November 11 - Taste of the Islands

Sanibel & Captiva's "Best Island Event" is back for its 31st year to celebrate three signatures – community, cuisine, and CROW - all in one fell swoop. Set to the tune of live bands, local restaurants will descend on Sanibel Community Park with their most decadent delicacies from 12:30 to 5 p.m. and duke it out to earn top honors for their dish from our esteemed judges and the crowd.
