Patients daily care
At CROW, our staff will tailor a treatment plan to each patient's specific needs. Because we care for more than 200 different wildlife species with various reasons for admittance, the diagnostic and treatment flexibility is key to quality patient care.
The majority of patients in CROW's intensive care unit receive one or more treatments each day. These might include pain medication, vitamin supplements, nebulization therapy, physical therapy and more. For these wild animals, human interaction can be immensely stressful which is why we aim to keep it to a minimum, without compromising the quality of care. CROW veterinarian, clinicians and volunteers make every effort to offer our recuperating patients the most stress-free, private environment possible, increasing the chances of a successful recovery.
Baby care is a significant portion of the rehabilitation work performed at CROW. Our baby mammal patients include raccoons, opossums, rabbits, squirrels, skunks, otters, and bobcats, and CROW also provides care for a large number of orphaned songbirds, seabirds, ducks, raptors and more. Many of these young animals arrive at CROW after human activities displace them from their homes or their parents. Some need to be fed as often as every 15 minutes, and that takes a coordinated effort from CROW staff, students and volunteers. Our wild animal care team works diligently to provide appropriate diets, medication and environments for these growing youngsters. Regardless of species or size, babies are provided the expert care they need to grow and thrive.
Each contribution of time and money helps us perform this important work, and we hope you will consider supporting CROW's compassionate care efforts in whatever way possible.
