Sanibel, Fla. (May 25, 2021) – The Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW)'s Visitor Education Center will resume offering Wildlife Walk guided hospital tours and daily presentations for guests on Tuesday, June 1.
"It has been a long time, but we are thrilled to be able to offer our most popular programs once again in a way that is safe for our guests, staff and animals," says Alison Charney Hussey, executive director for CROW.
All visitors to CROW's AWC Visitor Education Center, including those participating in the guided hospital tour, are required to wear masks covering their nose and mouth.
"Our animals and patients are not able to wear masks, so we ask that you wear one for their safety as well as the safety of others who are visiting," says Hussey.
Wildlife Walk guided hospital tours provide an opportunity for visitors to get an in-depth look into the inner workings of CROW's hospital and the treatment process of over 5,000 wildlife patients each year. The hour and a half program has two parts: the daily presentation in the AWC Visitor Education Center followed by a guided tour through treatment areas of the hospital. Up-close experiences with Animal Ambassadors are included along the way.
Tours will resume on Tuesday, June 1 and will be offered Monday through Friday at 11:00am. Each tour is limited to eight people and advanced registration is required. Program cost is $25 per person and includes General Admission to the AWC Visitor Education Center and the daily presentation. This program is open to all, but it is not recommended for children under the age of 13. Tours will be subject to modification or cancellation based on animals being treated in the hospital.
Daily presentations will be offered Monday through Friday at 11:00am and will include popular topics such as Birds of Prey, Virginia Opossums, Gopher Tortoises and Why Animals Come to CROW. Daily presentations are included with General Admission to the AWC Visitor Education Center. Advanced registration is not needed to attend the daily presentation only.
The AWC Visitor Education Center is open Monday through Friday from 10am to 4pm. (Also open on Saturdays from 10am-4pm through July). General Admission is $12 for adults, $7 for ages 4-12 and free for ages 3 and under.
